Handok Scouts Dr.Jae-phil Ryoo, a Patch Expert

Handok scouted Dr.Jae-phil Ruoo, an expert of TDDS (TransDermal Drug Delivery System) as the new Pharmaceutical Research Center of Central R&D Institute.


Dr.Ryoo, who has relentlessly spent the past 25 years in researching and developing more than 10 types of patches and other medicines in Korea and overseas, especially in the U.S., will carry out a mission to advance Ketotop, a famous medicine for arthritis, to become a global product through further development and research, and also develop new products to be introduced in the global market.


Dr.Ryoo majored in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Seoul National University and earned a Master’s and Doctor’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering at Iowa State University. He was in charge of DDS/ medicine research in LG Life Science from 1991 to 2002, and he moved to NexMEd, an American company to be in charge of TDDS product research from 2002 to 2006. After then till recently he worked as a Vice President at NAL Pharma, an American company, in charge of product development and licensing.


Chairman and CEO Young-jin Kim expressed his excitement to work together with Dr.Ryoo, an expert of patch medicine, adding that, “Ketotop has been the No.1 arthritis patch medicine in Korea for quite a long time. As the company is planning to build new production plants for Ketotop and expand Ketotop line-ups, we are expecting Dr.Ryoo will generate visible outcomes in growing Ketotop as a global brand.”
