– Will provide KRW20 million in grant funding and donations of pharmaceutical products including Oscal Plus worth KRW30 million

Handok Pharmaceuticals Co. (CEO: Young-Jin Kim) will provide relief medical products and grants to people affected by the earthquake in Haiti in a response to ongoing needs for recovery efforts and growing health care crisis.

The donations include Oscal Plus and other medical products worth KRW30 million in total to be shipped through the Korea Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association in addition to KRW20 million in grant funding through the Korean Red Cross.

Handok Pharmaceuticals said it determined the donation as a pharmaceutical company to put health first and in order to give a little, but significant help to Haitian people whose life is being threatened by natural disaster.

Handok Pharmaceuticals has actively joined international relief activities to fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Last year, it donated artificial tears and antibiotic eye drops to help Kenyan children in eye surgery and treatment, and provided Nicostop, a smoking-cessation patch to help smokers quit smoking in Uzbekistan. Also, it has continued donations of medical products to Red Cross Hospital in Pyongyang on an annual basis. Other donations for medical relief efforts were made during the SARS outbreak in China and to help Iraqi people through Korean medical troops.
